I had to do photos of my original pages to insert here so the hyperlinks don't work to allow you to link to other information on the Public Art Projects in the City of Oshawa. I am posting the links here for your use.

BC Family Day at Coombs, Vancouver Island

Spent the afternoon at Coombs which is a small town about 20 minutes outside of Parksville. This is the first year for Family Day in BC and Coombs went all out to make it a good one. This coming summer is the 150th anniversary of their agricultural fair and they wanted to make this special.

A few shots from the Blue Ridge Mountains Parkway through NC and VA, including Grandfather Mountain and heading out towards PA in the rain on Monday. The weekend was beautiful with bright sun and temperatures into the high 70s. It got quite crowded on the Parkway by Sunday afternoon so we opted to take some of the lesser traveled secondary highways and were rewarded with lots of twists and turns and challenging climbs and descents.
The colours were at their peak and it was a perfect time to be there.
We are now just south of Erie PA and the rain has finally stopped. Looks like a drier day to head back to Oshawa tomorrow, Tuesday.

Here we are in Asheville NC in the Blue Ridge Mountains on our way home. Lst night we stayed with Phil and Sandra Jean Allen near Royston in the north of Georgia. They are friends from Canada who now live near Stratford Ontario during the summer and in Georgia for the winter. Phil was a former neighbour on Brunswick St. in Oshawa and Sandra is from Georgia.

We left their place his morning and headed into NC and came along a scenic route over the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was a very twisty road up one side of the mountain and down the other with Caesar's Head State Park at the top. It was recommended to us by other road warriors we met on the way. Rene and Crystal were from Edmonton Alberta. Rene was originally from Cold Springs north of Cobourg Ontario. They had book to say with Gary and Joy from Asheville NC through a bikers network on line and they were exploring the area on thier bikes togethe. Crystal and Rene had been on the road for several months and are just exploring America with no set itinerary. Very cool people.

When we went back to the car there was a chap our age waiting for us. A budy had called him to come down to see our car as he knew that he was into Triumphs. We had quite a chat and he had a good look at the car. he has a TR4 in his garage to work on and was quite keen. We have met and chatted with many people on the trip and it has made it quite interesting and enjoyable. It is part of the magic of having a vintage car.

We will continue on the Blue Ridges Parkway tomorrow as we head for home.

Day 4 on Jekyll Island

Wednesday was panoramic photo day on the lawn in front of the hotel and our cottage. We then decided to rent bikes and tour the island and beaches instead of taking part in the car show. We were not alone as others opted to do the same. We get to see lots of little British cars but not beautiful islands in the sunny South so our day was well spent.
We had dinner at the Crane Courtyard Restaurant and it was wonderful. (That is Crane of plumbing fame) I got to take pictures of yet another wonderful sunset then it was off to the auction of car parts and accessories to round out the day.
Tomorrow we are going exploring again the the the evening is the final banquet and awards ceremony. We will hate to leave this beautiful spot.

Jekyll Island day 2

Lots to see and do at the Jekyll Island Club and on the Island.

We are in San Soucci Cottage on the third floor and get to see a lot of the action on the property. There are a number of museums and historic buildings on the property and several more under restoration.
