Full Moon over Northern Siberia

It is Tuesday morning here on the other side of the world!

Great flight from Toronto on Cathay Pacific. No delays due to rain or riot so made it in good time. Landed in HK airport at 4:30 a.m. and I am killing time until I can tour Lanau Island which is where the airport is. Hope to do the cable car and Big Buddah this moring and then catch my flight to Beijing at 3:00. Should be at the hostel in Beijing by 6:00 this evening.

Nice sunrise here in HK this morning but already hot and humid. May be a tiring day and prepartation for summer in Beijing.

If picture uploads it is of the full moon over northern Siberia (Jerkurks?) from the plane.

Myra Says Goodbye

I had special visitors today to wish me well on my journey. Myra and Melissa dropped by and Myra brought her special friend, Boo. He is a lovely striped tiger who will travel with her Poppa to China, Mongolia and Russia. He will bring back lots of stories to tell to Myra.

I am a very lucky guy to have such a nice sendoff and to have a special traveling buddy to keep me company.

Escape to more peaceful countries!

Not sure what is happening to good old Canada and quiet Toronto the good but if I can get through the highways to the airport I am finally on my way to Hong Kong and then on to Beijing. The quieter revolutions in China, Mongolia and Russia may be a pleasant change to the chaos here at home.

I will be touring Lanau Island where the HK airport is located during a short stopover before flying to Beijing later on Tuesday. I will be in Beijing by dinner time on Tuesday and will have a day to rest up and get over any jet lag before Greg and Angie arrive from HK.

Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures and an update once I get to Beijing. I am flying Cathay Pacific so it should be enjoyable. Talk to you again from the other side of the world!

Setting Up

It is June 9th and only a few weeks before I head off to China. Just enough time to set up this blog and to learn how to use it so that you can follow my adventure and see a sampling of photos from the trip.
It promises to be a great one and full of new and interestin places and people. I will be travelling with my brother-in-law Greg Duquette and my neice, Angela Duquette from Beijing to St. Petersburg Russia on the Trans Manchurian/Siberian Railway with stops in Ulaanbataar, Irkutsk and Moscow. We will be on the road from June 28 to July 24. Stay tuned for more details.
